This area houses various religious establishments, including the Homprakhoon Baptist Church, the Wat Lao Sirimoungkhoun of Dallas, the St. John Neumann Redemptorist Monastery, and the Potter’s House of Dallas.

A recently completed temple gate, resembling the iconic gates of Angkor Wat, marks the entrance to the Cambodian Buddhist Temple.The temple's premises, reminiscent of the wats in Thailand (albeit with distinctive Cambodian nuances), feature several giant structures. Among these, numerous Buddharūpa, including an impressive reclining Buddha, adorn the grounds, reflecting the rich religious heritage and artistic craftsmanship.

Monks reside within the temple grounds, as indicated by buildings designated as monk quarters. During your visit, you will likely encounter at least two of them - one involved in exterior work and another engaging in a friendly conversation - which adds to the sense of spiritual presence within the temple complex.

The visiting experience at the Cambodian Buddhist Temple of Dallas evokes reminiscences of similar cultural and spiritual sites encountered elsewhere. While not exactly the largest reclining Buddha observed, you will find it nonetheless impressive and appreciate the subtle differences in Cambodian architectural style compared to other Buddhist temples.

The Buddhism Tathagata Temple & Zen Center, nestled inconspicuously near Harry Hines close to Northwest Highway, might be easily overlooked due to its location. But it stands as a hidden gem awaiting discovery.

The temple offers meditation classes in English every Saturday at 10 am, providing a two-hour session to guide people through the practice of meditation. On Sundays at 10:30 am, a traditional service is conducted in Korean, led by a knowledgeable and affable "sunim" (monk) fluent in English.

Visiting the temple on a Sunday during service hours revealed a special occasion with the presence of three visiting monks from Korea. The service itself encompassed various elements, including chanting, meditation, discussions, and traditional Buddhist rituals involving kneeling and respectful bows. Post-service, a vegetarian meal is generously offered to attendees, which is usually dominated by older Korean members (primarily grandmothers), making up around 70 percent of the congregation.

All in all, despite being housed in an office building, the Buddhism Tathagata Temple & Zen Center offers a genuine experience of traditional Korean Buddhist practices. The English-fluent sunim and the friendly environment make the visit a memorable and enriching experience, making us want to return as soon as possible.
