Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) Type A
The China Scholarship Council administers the CGS program, which is the best scholarship available in China for international students.
It offers a variety of scholarships, including Type A. The tuition for a Chinese or English-taught program, as well as the preparation year, is covered by the Bilateral program.
Aside from free university housing (or a subsidy), the scholarship also offers a stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.
Students can apply to two Chinese colleges through this scholarship by contacting the Chinese embassy in their native country.
The following are the prerequisites for a Type A scholarship:
- University and CGS application forms
- Photocopy of highest diploma (notarized)
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of Chinese language proficiency
- Photocopy of foreigner physical exam form
A study plan/research proposal, two recommendation letters, and a personal statement form are also required of applicants.
