Napier Quarter is the next Fitzroy location on the list. Napier Quarter, unlike Marion and Bar Liberty, is not located on the main street, but rather on a backstreet corner in Fitzroy, not far from the soon-to-open Veriu Collingwood hotel.

Napier Quarter, which bills itself as an "espresso and wine bar," is unique in that it runs as a café during the day and then changes into a wine bar in the evening after the coffee machine is turned off. From 9 a.m. until midday, they serve a continental breakfast with artisan espresso, then switch to sharing plates and wine. Its Espresso & Wine Bar serves thoughtful fare, unique wines, and traditional espresso. It works on a walk-in basis due to the size and the nature of the offering, with reservations limited to intimate groups of 4–6 persons. Parties of this size are sent to the Chef's Table, which features a simple, shareable menu created by Eileen Horsnell.

All of the books on the shelf are for sale, and the staff has chosen new titles that feature black and brown authors, with an emphasis on indigenous, female, non-binary, and queer perspectives. If books aren't your thing, there's a large communal table with a variety of board games to explore. A small selection of bar food and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. You may also order coffee, drinks, and beer. Willows & Wine is a great spot for a relaxing day with a bottle of wine and a cheese platter or meeting up with old friends.

The Carlton Wine Room is located in a historic area of Carlton. Although the Carlton Wine Room is more of a restaurant than a wine bar, it is still deserving of a place on this list.

With five floors, including a 20-person private dining room, two specialized event areas, and a big second dining room, this facility is deceptively enormous. As impressive as these spaces are, the wine bar on the ground floor is a major attraction. With a 100-bottle wine list selected by co-owner and ex-Coda and Tonka sommelier Travis Howe, wine enthusiasts are in for a treat. It recommends that you come hungry in order to enjoy a meal from the equally superb menu of European-influenced Australian food.

Gerald's Bar has nearly as many awards as it does wine varieties, so no list of Melbourne's greatest wine bars would be complete without it. Gerald Diffey, the bar's owner and namesake, has served in some great restaurants during his career, but he has designed Gerald's Bar to seem quite casual and home.

Trinkets and artifacts adorn the walls, giving the impression that you're in someone's homeroom rather than a public bar. Despite the warm atmosphere and welcoming service, the wine list is remarkable and diverse. With a cellar of over 200 wines from over here and over there, the wines by the glass are also forever changing. With a menu that changes frequently and at the discretion of management, a safe bet is to order a glass from one of the open bottles in the back's silver ice buckets.

While the green northern suburbs are home to many of Melbourne's top wine bars, Milton Wine Shop is the champion that the southern suburbs deserve. Milton, a wine retailer in Malvern in Melbourne's southeast, offers a wide range of wines that may be enjoyed both in-store and at home.

It has a wide range of old and new world wines in store, including red, white, pink, and orange wines, as well as avant-garde low-intervention wines alongside some of the great classical masters. They are particularly fond of biodynamic natural wines that are free of preservatives and other additives. These natural wines are worth a try, even if they are a bit more costly because they are said to be less likely to give you a hangover (though this is still dependent on how much you drink, of course).

The wooden flooring, darkly lit lounge areas and clubhouse atmosphere seem tailor-made for a fancy dinner or drink. Wines from all over the world (including Japan and Lebanon) are stacked on open wrought-iron shelves in the main dining area, and the wine list rivals that of some of the city's best restaurants. The Coffin Bay oysters are paired with a tart red wine and shallot vinaigrette, and the creamy yet delicate 2010 Domaines Guillot-Broux Macon Chardonnay from Burgundy is a recommended pairing. Slow-cooked meat is juicy and perfect for sharing with roast vegetables and fresh salads.
