1951 Vincent Black Lightning
The Vincent Black Lightning was a Vincent-HRD motorcycle that was produced from 1948 to 1952 at the Vincent plant in Great North Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, UK. However, only 31 Vincent Black Lightnings were produced in 1951. A bike in perfect condition with its original paint would always be worth six figures. The bike was a factory-built Black Shadow that was renamed and manufactured as the Black Lightning. The Black Lightning was the world's fastest production motorcycle at the time.
On January 25, 2018, this Black Lightning achieved an auction record for the most expensive single motorcycle at the Bonhams motorcycle sale in Las Vegas. And the price is $929,000 in its original state. The historically noteworthy 1951 Vincent Black Lightning race bike is one of only 30 such motorcycles made in Stevenage, England, according to Verve. The special-order Vincent was shipped to Australia after leaving the factory. The bike set Australia's land speed record while there, under the hands of racer Jack Ehret.
