Allianz SE (ALIZY)
Insurance and investment advisory services are provided by Allianz SE. Property-Casualty, Life/Health, Asset Management, and Corporate and Other are the segments through which it operates. The Property-Casualty sector provides coverage for travel, legal expenses, general liability, fire, and personal accidents. Annuities, endowment and term insurance, unit-linked and investment-oriented products, private and supplemental health insurance, and long-term care insurance are all included in the Life/Health sector. The segment for asset management offers services and products for both institutional and retail asset management. Treasury, banking, and alternative investment activities are included in the Corporate and Other section. The business was established on February 5, 1890, by Wilhelm Finck and Carl Thieme, and it has its headquarters in Munich, Germany.
The business became the first insurer to be granted a license to offer corporation policies in 1900. Paul Von Naher became the sole leader of the business in 1904 as it expanded into the US and other markets. By 1914, Allianz had expanded into a number of new markets, including the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, the Scandinavian nations, and the Baltic States. It had also risen to the position of Germany's top maritime insurer. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake resulted in losses to the company of 300,000 marks, which led to an early expansion disaster for the business. The business bought "Fides Insurance Company," which had created the first type of home invasion insurance, in 1905.
