Altria Group

The Altria Group is the next name on the list of the world's major manufacturers of cigarettes, tobacco, and nicotine products. Altria was founded in 1985 by a combination of numerous Philip Morris Companies businesses that had split off as their own independent organizations. Altria owns shares in several significant tobacco and cigarette firms, including Philip Morris USA, John Middleton, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company, and Philip Morris Capital Corporation. It also owns stakes in ABInBev, Cronos Group, and JUUL Labs, among others.

Altria Group, like most other significant cigarette firms, is investing heavily in developing and bringing innovative smokeless tobacco products to market. In 2018, the company purchased a 35 percent share in JUUL Labs, an e-cigarette company.
