Amazon.com, Inc. is a multinational technology firm based in Seattle, Washington, that specializes in cloud computing, digital streaming, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce. Along with Google, Apple, and Facebook, this corporation is regarded as one of the Big Four technology giants.

On July 5, 1994, Jeff Bezos launched Amazon in Bellevue, Washington. The company began as an online book retailer, but has since expanded to include electronics, software, video games, fashion, furniture, cuisine, toys, and jewelry. By market capitalization, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuable retailer in the United States in 2015. Amazon paid $13.4 billion to buy Whole Foods Market in 2017, significantly increasing Amazon's foothold as a brick-and-mortar store. Bezos revealed in 2018 that Amazon Prime, his two-day delivery service, had over 100 million users globally.
