Animschool
Animschool was founded in 2010 by David Gallagher, a former animator and character developer at Blue Sky Studios. He wanted to create a school that would teach students the skills and techniques needed to succeed in the industry. Animschool's instructors are professionals who have worked at studios like DreamWorks, Disney, Pixar, Sony, Riot Games, Reel FX, MPC, and more. They teach live online classes where students can watch them work, ask questions, and get feedback on their assignments.
The 3D Character Program teaches students how to make characters from scratch. Students learn how to design, model, sculpt, texture, shade, and rig characters for animation. They also learn how to use software like Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, and Substance Painter. The program consists of 11 classes that take about 21 months to complete.
The 3D Animation Program teaches students how to bring characters to life through expressive performances. Students learn about posing, drawing, appeal, principles of motion, acting, and the classical principles of animation. They also learn how to use software like Maya and Unreal Engine. The program consists of 9 classes that take about 18 months to complete.
Both programs have high standards of progress and require students to pass a midterm and final review before moving on to the next class. Students also have access to a library of recorded classes, weekly workshops, guest speakers, and career services. Animschool's graduates have an 86% placement rate in the industry and have worked at respected companies like Netflix Animation, Blizzard Entertainment, Industrial Light & Magic and more.
Animschool's tuition costs are affordable for many students. There is a one-time application fee of $125 and a monthly tuition fee of $599 for both programs. Students can also apply for financial aid or scholarships if they qualify. Animschool is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which is a recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.
