This course is intended to serve as a foundational survey of art history for college students. In addition to an online textbook, the instructor also offers study guides and worksheets. The language used to discuss art is covered in this course. From the Renaissance to the 1950s, this book provides a comprehensive overview of art, culture, and architecture.
The physical or formal properties of each work are discussed in depth, including the technology used to create the work, color, medium, materials, composition, and shading. Each work's symbolism is discussed, as well as how to interpret the interplay of symbols in a work of art.
