Assaha Village
Assaha is ready to take you on a gastronomic carpet ride with its lofty dining area, stone walls, and artistically placed tables. While studying the extensive menu, nibble on a platter of olives before deciding on delectable meze (with excellent hummus) and a classic shwarma. At dinnertime, the lovely patio in the back is in popular demand.
This is a great first meal in Khartoum after desert camping and exploring Northern Sudan. Although it is clearly geared toward expats, it is a nice sit-down restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. By Sudanese standards, the prove point is expensive, but by American/European eat-out menu standards, it is typical to inexpensive. There are no further cakes in the dessert, which is a minor oversight.
