Assateague Island National Seashore

The Assateague Island National Seashore is a protected region on a long barrier island off Maryland and Virginia's coasts. It is well-known for its Atlantic beaches as well as trails that wind through marshland, dunes, and pine woodland. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in the south is home to wild Chincoteague horses, bald eagles, and migrating seabirds.
