Bal Harbour Shops
In a lush tropical garden setting, the Bal Harbour Shops is an outstanding assortment of designer boutiques, department stores, and restaurants. Bal Harbour Shops was once the only spot in Miami-Dade County to shop for luxury brands. That's because it required tenants to sign an exclusivity agreement for decades, which meant they couldn't open another business within a 20-mile radius.
Louis Vuitton eventually spearheaded the charge to have Bal Harbour Shops ease its limits, allowing Miami to experience a luxury retailer boom over the last decade, but that hasn't damaged the company's bottom line. Marni, La Perla, Chloé, Bally, Miu Miu, Versace, and Stella McCartney are still located at Bal Harbour Shops.
It also has excellent dining alternatives for well-heeled customers, such as Stephen Starr's Le Zoo and Makoto's Japanese cuisine. Hillstone at Bal Harbour is housed in a newly constructed pavilion at the Bal Harbour Shops that visibly floats out over the main entrance facing Collins Avenue. Carpaccio, the Italian restaurant, has long been a favorite, and it remains the restaurant of choice for celebrities and socialites, sports stars and artists who return for the famed dish.
Parking is offered at Bal Harbour Shops in the mall's car park for your convenience, although it is a pay lot. Call ahead for rates, and make sure your ticket is validated for a lower parking fee. You can also take public transportation to get near the mall. There are some services for people with disabilities. Again, call the mall to inquire about any special accommodations you may require. The mall is not pet-friendly, so dogs should be kept on a leash unless they are assistance animals.
