Banco de Bogotá
Banco de Bogotá S.A. has the second most assets of any bank in Colombia. It has offices in New York and Miami, Florida, as well as in Panama and the Bahamas. The company has been around since 1870, making it the oldest bank in the country. The magazine Global Finance says that it is the best bank in Colombia. The richest person in Colombia, Luis Carlos Sarmiento, owns Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores, which owns Banco de Bogota.
In Colombia, Banco de Bogotá has about 650 branches, five business service centers, and a banking attention center. On a national level, it also works through subsidiaries: Corporacion Financiera Colombiana S.A., an investment bank; Almacenes Generales de Deposito Almaviva S.A., a products supply logistics company; Sociedad Fiduciaria Bogotá Fidubogotá S.A. and Fiduciaria del Comercio Fiducomercio S.A., trust and portfolio investment companies; Leasing Bogotá S.A. It also has a bank branch in Panama and a bank branch in the Bahamas. Banco de Bogotá has two offices in the United States. One is in New York City, New York, and the other is in Miami, Florida.
Grupo Aval, a holding company that is one of Colombia's biggest and most powerful banking institutions, owns most of the Bank's voting shares. Alejandro Figueroa is its president, and he has been in this job since 1989.
