Prior to 2022, Banwa Private Island held the title of the most expensive resort in the world. The resort reduced its rate to $45,000 per night when the COVID pandemic broke out. “We had a different team [when it launched] who wanted to market it as the most expensive,” said Judith Los Banos, a Banwa representative, “We don’t want to claim that title right now.”
Although the new price is lower, the island remains exclusive. A week's stay can cost more than $300,000 per person.
