The Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC Group) is a major automobile manufacturer in China, established in 1958 with its headquarters located in Beijing. Over the years, BAIC has evolved into a large automotive conglomerate in China, engaging in research and development, direct production of various car models, as well as the manufacturing of complete parts and components.
Additionally, the company is involved in areas such as automotive trade and services, integrated mobility services, finance, investment, and aviation. As of 2020, BAIC was ranked 124th on the Fortune 500 list and is one of the four major state-owned auto manufacturers in China.
In1958, when Beijing Automotive Works produced the Jinggangshan sedan, the first model developed by the company itself, BAIC has progressed to manufacture the BJ212, the first-generation light-duty off-road vehicle in China, and the BJ130, the first-generation light-duty truck.
The company established the Beijing Jeep Corporation, the first joint venture in China specializing in vehicle production, Beijing Hyundai Auto Co., Ltd., the first joint venture for vehicle production in China after the country's accession to the WTO, and Beijing Mercedes Benz Automotive Co., Ltd., a model enhancing strategic joint ventures and broad cooperation.
