Bishnoi Village Tour
A must-have experience is the Bishnoi village safari that tours through the quaint and small village near the city of Jodhpur. There can be two derivations of the word “Bishnoi”. One relates to the Hindu god, Vishnu. The other is broken into ‘bish’ and “noi” meaning twenty and nine respectively. This refers to the twenty-nine principles that Bishnoi follows. Bishnoi village safari is a must-include in your Rajasthan village tours.
The Bishnoi tribe is renowned for its work in protecting plants and animals. By growing cattle fodder, these peasants stop their soil from eroding. The locals are skilled farmers and shepherds, and they are renowned for their block printing. In addition, several villagers have achieved success in industries like defense and information technology. But the majority of them are still tied to their own land. The Bishnoi people are masters at working with clay. However, because so many villages are looking for more lucrative and well-paying jobs, pottery is sadly slowly fading. On your way to these villages, you will notice Chinkaras and other wildlife roaming freely. If you are lucky enough, you might even spot cranes on your way to the village area. The terrain leading to the Bishnoi villages is usually rugged but you will find a few patches of greenery in the desert.
