Bodhi Path
Bodhi Path, founded by the 14th Shamarpa (Shamar Rinpoche), is a worldwide organization of Buddhist centers that aims to share authentic teachings in a modern way. These centers, part of the Bodhi Path community, have teachers who guide people in Buddhist meditation and philosophy, offering practical insights for those on the Buddhist path.
The story of Buddhism traces back to Prince Siddhartha, born in Lumbini, Nepal. Leaving behind a life of luxury, Siddhartha sought a solution to life's challenges. After exploring extreme practices, he found enlightenment by gently examining his mind—a practice known as the middle way. Over fifty years, Buddha Shakyamuni shared teachings that accommodated the diverse capacities of beings, and these teachings were passed down orally and in written form.
Tibetan Buddhism, enriched by Indian teachings, faced challenges when China invaded Tibet in the mid-20th century. Despite the difficulties, the transmission of Buddhist teachings persisted, and the Bodhi Path emerged as a beacon of authentic Dharma teachings tailored to contemporary practitioners.
The curriculum of the Bodhi Path emphasizes the practice and study of meditation through authentic Dharma. It incorporates the “Two Rivers Connecting” tradition of mind training, following the wisdom of Gampopa, who combined the Kadampa instructions with Mahamudra teachings. This tradition was transmitted orally, ensuring the authentic transmission of Buddhist wisdom.
In a world shaped by modern needs, the Bodhi Path serves as a guide, offering a curriculum that respects tradition while responding to the conditions of practitioners. It is a community where the timeless teachings of Buddhism find resonance in the contemporary journey of those seeking wisdom and mindfulness.
