Chamine de Chaves

Upon reaching Cade Verde, visitors head north, towards the old chimney of Chaves like a brick lighthouse. Since it was decommissioned for a long time and left dunes surrounding it, Chamine de Chaves is uncertain but it seems to have had its chimney-like glory.

Chamine Of Chaves is one of the Most Beautiful Historical Sites in Cape Verde that remains above the sand dunes of an old brick factory located on Chaves Beach, an architectural structure according to European technology. It was reopened in the early twenty-first century.

In the early 20th century, the capitalists recognized the clay mixture around it as a rich and ideal resource for brick and tile production. And after production is complete they can export them to neighboring countries like Guineas, in Senegal. Since then, further production units have been developed. However, the factory closed for unknown reasons in 1928.

Nowadays, over a period of hundreds of years with the change of wind direction, sand, and bushes invading the lower part of the kiln, Chamine de Chaves is only the only thing intact to withstand the blue sky of the beach such as the erosion of extreme weather conditions.

Chamine de Chaves has become the unique iconic image of the island of Boa Vista. When coming to this place, visitors will easily realize that only the palm trees of Perola de Chaves restaurant can challenge its solid prestige.
