Chouwen Lake

Chouwen is located 40km away from Beirut and is 600m above sea level. Jannet Chouwen is one of the most picturesque places in Lebanon. The stream runs down the mountain and flows into the "Nahr-Ibrahim" river better known as the river of the god Adonis. Visiting this area, you will have the chance to witness the beauty of the fabulous Chouwen lake.

Chouwen Lake as well as the trail leading to it are truly marvelous. The lake has a beautiful light green color, surrounded by high mountains and majestic forests. If you don’t mind trying a little bit of adventure, don’t hesitate to try the most famous trial. It could be a bit dusty and a bit rough, but the highlight of the rail will be the panoramic balcony where you can witness the whole view of the Chouwen Lake from above. And once you reached the lake, don’t waste a second getting into the freezing river! The water is really nice and clean compared to other places in Lebanon. So for those who are courageous, be sure to pack your swimsuit.

It takes quite a long time and difficult route to fully enjoy the beauty of the Chouwen lake, so tourists are suggested to bring lunch and important tools for hiking.
