CIM stands for Chartered Institute of Marketing, the world's leading professional marketing body. They offer a range of courses and qualifications for marketers of all levels and sectors. One of their courses is Filmmaking and Video Production for Marketers, which is delivered by the British Film Institute (BFI), the UK's lead organization for film and the moving image.
The course is designed to help you understand the basic techniques and technology of video production and the skills required. You will learn how to plan, shoot and edit your own video ideas using your smartphone or tablet, as well as how to work with footage and audio professionally captured by the BFI. You will also learn how to use video strategies and platforms effectively, how to create visual storyboards and shooting scripts, how to use different camera angles and shot types, how to apply basic editing techniques and effects, and how to export your video to different specs.
The course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of how and why video content is effective in a marketing context, and would like practical experience and guidance on starting to capture and edit their own footage. You don't need any prior experience or equipment, just a smartphone or tablet with a camera and some editing software. The course recommends using Adobe Premiere Pro, but you can also use other free programs like Lightworks.
The course is delivered online over two days, with a mixture of group and individual activities. You will receive verbal feedback from an expert film educator throughout the course, as well as access to online resources and support. The course costs £899.00 (excluding VAT) for non-members, or £809.10 (excluding VAT) for CIM members.
