Cooperage Football Ground
The stadium was built in 1993 on recreational grounds located between Mumbai's four historic districts. Initially outfitted with substandard and low-quality timber stands, it had to update its facilities in 2008, when Mumbai FC started their I-League campaign here. FIFA supported this quantum step-up in infrastructure by donating $2 million to the stadium's development in 2011. Synthetic grass, floodlights, and nine steel grandstands with a combined capacity of over 4,000 were erected. Eventually, Cooperage Football Ground was expanded.
Mumbai City FC has been the secondary tenant since 2014. However, the ISL team (which competes in the I-League) plays their home matches in the considerably bigger Wankhede Stadium portion.
Cooperage Football Ground is, without a doubt, one of the most popular football grounds in Mumbai. User Swaroop Patnaik describes it well in her review: "This lush green state-of-the-art multiplex ground is nestled among the towering skyscrapers in the core of Colaba. Within the Cooperage stadium, there is a football field and a hockey field, both of which feature beautiful green artificial grass. It is an awe-inspiring venue with magnificent vistas all around and a large seating capacity."
