Costco
Costco Wholesale Corporation (commonly known as Costco) is an American multinational corporation that operates a chain of membership-only big-box retail locations (warehouse clubs). As of 2016, Costco was the world's fifth-largest retailer and the leading retailer of choice and prime beef, organic groceries, rotisserie chicken, and wine. Costco was rated #10 on the Fortune 500 list of the top firms in the United States by total revenue in 2021.
Although its Kirkland Signature house label carries the name of its former location in Kirkland, Costco's global headquarters are in Issaquah, Washington, an eastern suburb of Seattle. In 1983, the company launched its first warehouse (the word for the chain's retail stores) in Seattle. Costco's company history, on the other hand, stretches back to 1976, when its erstwhile competitor Price Club opened its doors in San Diego, California. Costco has 804 warehouses globally as of March 2021: 558 in the US (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), 103 in Canada, 39 in Mexico, 29 in the UK, 27 in Japan, 16 in South Korea, 14 in Taiwan, 13 in Australia, 4 in Spain, 1 in Iceland, 2 in France, and 1 in mainland China. Costco opens new locations on a regular basis. In 2022, the corporation wants to open warehouses in New Zealand and Sweden for the first time.
In its warehouses and on its e-commerce store, it sells a wide range of products, including electronics, computers, furniture, outdoor living, appliances, and jewelry.
