Darwin suffered from chronic illnesses

Charles Darwin experienced frequent spells of vomiting, abdominal pain, migraines, extreme exhaustion, skin issues, and despair after his return from the Beagle in 1836. He received no care from twenty doctors. Arsenic poisoning, Chagas disease, numerous allergies, hypochondria, and bereavement syndrome are just a few of the organic or psychological diagnoses that have been used to explain Darwin's mysterious ailment. None withstand a thorough examination. His medical history reveals that he had an underlying condition that was worse by depression.

History demonstrates that systemic lactose intolerance is the cause of all of Darwin's illnesses. Two to three hours after a meal—the amount of time it takes for lactose to reach the big intestine, vomiting, and digestive issues started to appear. As with genetically predisposed hypolactasia, his family history indicates a significant inherited component. Only accidentally ceasing to consume milk and cream did Darwin begin to feel better. The significance of lactose in animal and human evolution is another element Darwin overlooked, which is brought to light by his illness. Timothy Dickinson discussed Charles Darwin and the rich history of humanity.
