Dedon
More than 30 years ago, Dedon, a German brand, revolutionized the outdoor furniture industry by introducing a groundbreaking synthetic fiber. Through their unwavering dedication to wicker, uncompromising commitment to quality, and collaborations with renowned designers, Dedon has risen to the pinnacle of the luxury design world.
Dedon's synthetic fiber is remarkably durable, UV- and water-resistant, soft to the touch, and fully recyclable. It boasts a natural appearance and is available in a wide range of colors, shapes, and textures. Produced in Germany, the fiber is meticulously hand-woven in the Philippines, utilizing innovative braiding techniques and artisanal manufacturing processes to ensure the uniqueness of each piece. Among Dedon's most iconic designs is the Swing Me hanging chair, created by Daniel Pouzet.
Dedon maintains complete control over the design process, overseeing the production of 55,000 kilometers of synthetic fiber annually. Advanced equipment allows them to simulate a decade of exposure to sun, saltwater, and chlorinated water. This same level of rigor is applied to the manufacturing of the final product, from assembling the aluminum structure to the meticulous craftsmanship of experienced weavers in the covering process.
Inspiration for Dedon comes from a multitude of sources. Founder Robert Dekeyser and his teams draw inspiration from encounters with diverse cultures such as the Maasai people, the palaces of Rajasthan, the lush forests of Thailand, the pyramids of Yucatan, the Canadian lakes, and the beaches of Ibiza. They let themselves be transported by the people they meet, the places they explore, and the emotions that engulf them in those moments.
