Descartes Systems Group Inc.
Descartes Systems Group Inc. (abbreviated Descartes) is a Canadian multinational technology firm that specializes in logistics software, supply chain management software, and cloud-based services for logistics companies.
Descartes is perhaps best known for its abrupt and unexpected turnaround in the mid-2000s when it was on the verge of bankruptcy following the fall of the dot-com bubble. It is also regarded as one of the first logistics technology firms to implement an on-demand business model and sell software as a service (SaaS) over the Internet. The business runs the Global Logistics Network, an extensive electronic messaging system used to share logistics and customs information by freight companies, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, customs brokers, government agencies, and other interested parties.
Descartes is a publicly traded business with its headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Shares of the company are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and NASDAQ Stock Market under the ticker symbol "DSGX." (TSX: DSG). In addition to Asia Pacific, it has locations in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the African continent.
