Distinctive Ethnic Culture
Yunnan is a province living with many ethnic groups, and tourists would be captivated by ethnic beautiful buildings and delicious food. The province has representation from 25 distinct ethnic subgroups. The most well-known are the Yi (whose most notable holiday is the Torch Festival), the Bai (whose primary holiday is the March Fair), and the Dai (the Water Splashing Festival, a.k.a. Spring Festival, is their main celebration). More info on Yunnan's festivals. The Naxi live primarily in and around the city of Lijiang and are known for their distinctive Dongba culture, which is listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. The Mosuo, regarded as the last matriarchal society in existence, reside close to Lijiang around the lovely Lugu Lake.
In areas adjacent to Tibet, such as Shangri-la, live members of the Tibetan ethnic group or nationality. Visitors and tourists should respect the Tibetan ethnic group's religious beliefs in Tibetan Buddhism as well as its customs. Please respect Meili Snow Mountain in the Meili Snow Mountain Scenic Area since it is a sacred mountain to the Tibetan ethnic group by not tearing or stepping on prayer flags. The lakes, mountains, historic towns, and stunning structures mentioned above are not all about Yunnan, and there are no words to describe the beauty and sanctity of a Yunnan visit. The turquoise lakes, white snow mountains, unique delicacies, and authentic rural lifestyle should all be visited by tourists.
