Molded glass is heated to 600 degrees Celsius and swiftly cooled using a method pioneered by Saint-Gobain in the 1930s, giving it double the impact resistance of regular glass. Founded in 1945 Since 1945, when Duralex invented the glass tempering process, the name Duralex has been associated with toughened glassware, utilizing their proprietary process.
Duralex's OvenChef glass baking plates were named one of the best new home items of 2014 by the magazine This Old House, highlighting the dishes' ability to resist significant temperature changes without breaking.
