EC-Council
EC-Council is a renowned cybersecurity certification, education, training, and services organization headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. With a rich history spanning over two decades, it has established itself as a leader in the field, having certified more than 237,000 professionals from 145 countries.
The roots of the EC-Council trace back to 2001 when Jay Bavisi founded the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) in response to the September 11 attacks. The organization aimed to certify professionals capable of protecting against electronic commerce attacks. Over the years, EC-Council expanded its offerings and became a certifier of training courses and exams, collaborating with entrepreneurs in the information security training business.
EC-Council is widely recognized for its popular certification programs, including the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program, which was introduced in 2003 and quickly gained popularity among white hat hackers. In fact, the United States Department of Defense updated its directive on information security in 2010, mandating its computer network defenders to obtain the CEH certification from EC-Council.
In addition to the CEH program, EC-Council provides a range of professional certifications in the IT security field. These certifications cover various domains such as network defense (Certified Network Defender - CND), executive leadership (Certified Chief Information Security Officer - CCISO), and digital forensics (Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator - CHFI). EC-Council also offers certifications in disaster recovery, software security, digital forensics, and general IT security knowledge.
