Enjoy nature at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Illinois

The Chicago Botanic Garden began as a beautiful location to visit 50 years ago and has evolved into one of the world's major living museums and conservation scientific institutes. More than one million people visit the garden's 28 gardens and four natural areas each year, which are uniquely positioned on 385 acres on and around nine islands with six miles of lake frontage. There is also a well-known bonsai collection at the garden.

The Chicago Botanic Garden has over 50,000 members, making it one of the largest botanic gardens in the United States. Year-round, people of all ages, interests, and abilities engage in events, take lessons, and walk the grounds. Scientists and graduate students undertake a wide range of plant studies in the Garden's Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center's nine laboratories. The Garden is one of only 17 public gardens in the United States to be certified by the American Association of Museums. Its Lenhardt Library has 150,000 volumes, including one of the greatest collections of rare botanical books in the country.

Non-members must pay for parking, but admission to the garden is free. On-site amenities include a café and a gift shop. The garden is open all year and has an active events schedule with activities such as culinary courses, live music, and flower exhibitions. This is a lovely romantic destination to visit if you're seeking exciting things to do in Illinois for adults.
