European School Conpenhagen
The European School Copenhagen (ESC) ranked second among the best international schools in Copenhagen. It's an accredited European School that provides education from nursery to upper secondary levels. Established in 2014, it follows the curricula of the European Schools and offers the European Baccalaureate as its secondary leaving qualification.
With approximately 900 students, the ESC occupies a five-story complex covering 14,000 square meters, along with an underground parking area of 10,000 square meters. This reflects the school's dedication to offering a modern and spacious learning environment for its diverse student body.
ESC is affiliated with the local Danish school, Sankt Annæ Gymnasium, and is overseen by a joint management board of the two institutions. The curriculum focuses on multilingualism, academic excellence, and understanding of different cultures and languages, aligning with the European school system’s ethos.
The ESC's journey started when plans were presented by different organizations such as Copenhagen Municipality, Realdania, Novo Nordisk Fonden, Nordea-fonden, and Industriens Fond. It first operated from a temporary location at the South Harbour School and then moved into its new building on October 25, 2018. The official opening ceremony happened on November 20, 2018, which was a big moment for the school.
ESC's architectural design was created by different companies and won a big competition. It shows a commitment to a complete educational experience that fits in with the nearby city.
