Fabric, London
Fabric is one of Europe's top best nightclubs, with a reputation for always being ahead of the curve in terms of underground music. Fabric, which first opened its doors in 1999, was crowned Best Club at this year's DJ Mag Awards, which were decided by its readers and some of the world's most prominent DJs! It has three rooms: The Lockdown (eclectic techno), Farris Hall (the UK's longest-running house night), and The Lightbox (progressive sounds from electro-clash and deep house genres).
Fabric plays a wide range of musical styles. Friday nights (dubbed "FABRICLIVE") are dedicated to bass music genres, with drum and bass dominating since the beginning. Grime, breakbeat, dubstep, and bassline are among the genres represented on FABRICLIVE. Saturday nights (dubbed "Fabric") feature house, techno, and disco music, as well as the club's permanent DJs Craig Richards and Terry Francis. Richards was also one of the Music Programming Directors, putting together Saturday night lineups that included DJs like Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Craig, Ellen Allien, and many others. "Wetyourself," a polysexual event that has been occurring since February 2009, promotes Sundays at Fabric. Underground house and techno dominate the playlist, with the occasional live PA thrown in for good measure.
