Fiji Maritime Academy

The Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA), formerly referred to as the School of Maritime Studies, FNU turned into mounted in 1970 via way of means of the Government of Fiji to boom the variety of certified Mariners and Seafarers in Fiji and the Pacific region. It shifted to its cutting-edge area Laucala Bay in 1982. In 2007, the School blanketed the Fisheries Programme in its curriculum and turned into renamed the School of Maritime and Fisheries. In January 2014, the Academy surpassed over its control to ClNEC Campus, Sri Lanka, and has been re-branded as “Fiji Maritime Academy”.

Fiji Maritime Academy has been presenting Maritime Training to the Seafarers of Fiji in addition to nationals from the South Pacific region. We provide guides that allow excessive faculty graduates the pathway to acquiring certification to paintings as navigation or engineering officials on neighborhood and global ships. Programmes presented at FMA are authorised via way of means of the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF). Diploma and Certificate Level Programmes presented at FMA are authorised via way of means of Fiji National University and are registered at Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC).

The Academy has been carrying out guides in compliance with Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) ‘seventy eight code as amended in 2010. All operational and control stage Certificate of competency (COC) are issued via way of means of MSAF
