Fleer

Fleer, a sports trading card brand, has been a prominent figure in the industry for over six decades. Established in 1959, the company quickly gained recognition for its innovative card designs and meticulous attention to detail during the manufacturing process.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Fleer distinguished itself from other card companies through its use of stickers. The production of diverse sticker sets proved immensely popular among collectors and solidified Fleer's influential status within the industry. Additionally, the company regularly released limited edition sets that featured rare or autographed cards, captivating collectors who eagerly sought these highly coveted items.

Fleer also embraced technological advancements in card production, setting new standards in the industry. The brand notably pioneered the use of holograms on their cards, implementing this innovation as a means to combat counterfeiting. Furthermore, Fleer introduced embossed cards, which featured raised designs, adding a tactile element that enhanced the overall sensory experience for collectors.

In early 2005, Fleer announced that it would cease all production of trading cards and file an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. In July 2005, Upper Deck acquired the rights to the Fleer name and began producing Fleer-branded basketball, ice hockey, and American football cards.
