General Motors Company
The General Motors Company (GM) is an American multinational automobile company headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Founded as a holding company by William S. Durant on September 16, 1908, the current venture was restructured and established in 2009. The company is the largest automobile manufacturer in the United States and one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world.
General Motors manufactures vehicles in several countries. The four major car brands are Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. The company also owns or owns significant stakes in foreign brands such as Wuling, Baojun and Jiefang. Annual sales worldwide reached 10 million units in 2016.
