Being a vegetarian or vegan in Sokcho is difficult, yet in this city, Gimbap Cheongug Central Branch provides meat and has vegan options. Please let the staff know if you are a vegetarian so they may provide vegetarian foods for you, the English menu requests. By leaving out the egg and mayo, yachae gimbap (vegetable gimbap) can be turned vegan. The gimbap is prepared in the front of the establishment so that you may watch it being prepared and have a staff member double-check each ingredient with you before adding it. By leaving out the meat and eggs, bibimbap can be made vegan. Not all side dishes will be vegan (e.g. kimchi).
The space is light and designed in a conventional Korean manner. Particularly, the restaurant's outstanding service is a major asset. Check back with them whether it's okay to eat eggs, is their meat, etc. because they have an English menu and even though the owner's English isn't great, he seems to have a good sense of what customers can eat. The affordable price keeps this restaurant busy all the time.
