Goblin (2016)

Goblin stormed Asia in 2016 because of its fascinating substance and the perfect pairing of Lee Dong Wook and box office king Gong Yoo. The film follows Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), a skilled Goryeo period general assigned by the emperor to protect the land, and the young monarch Wang Yeo (Lee Dong Wook). However, the evil deity took possession of the monarch and instructed him to stab Kim Shin to death with the same sword he used to kill the enemies in order to defend the land.

Wang Yeo is the King of Goryeo and married General Kim Shin's sister, Kim Sun. Wang Yeo murdered two Kim Shin brothers after believing the opponents of the fake god Park Joong Heon. Wang Yeo could not reincarnate because his fault was too enormous, so he became the God of Death and forgot everything. In this film, Lee Dong Wook plays a grim reaper who constantly wears a black hat and has a mysterious, but yet captivating allure. Lee Dong Wook, while being a chilly god of death, is exceedingly cute. The expressions, movements, and statements of each character immediately became a topic of conversation on social media. Goblin is one of Lee Dong Wook's high points in his acting career. Although his character, Wang Yeo, was simply a supporting character, he created a lasting impression on viewers.
