Grevelingenmeer
On the border between the provinces of Zuid-Holland and Zeeland, you will find Grevelingenmeer, a versatile diving location. This lake is in 2nd place on the list of the best places for scuba diving in Netherlands. Grevelingenmeer is a closed-off section of the Rhine-Meuse estuary in the Dutch provinces of South Holland and Zeeland. It is located between the islands of Goeree-Overflakkee (South Holland) and Schouwen-Duiveland (Zeeland) and was closed as part of the Delta Works, a massive engineering project aimed to protect the Netherlands' southwestern region from flooding. The Grevelingen is protected from the North Sea by the Brouwersdam, a dike that connects the two islands to the west. The Grevelingendam, a dike to the east, prevents Rhine and Meuse water from entering. You can go into the water at various places, including at Den Osse Nieuwe Kerkweg, Scharendijke West, and Le Serpent. Den Osse Nieuwe Kerkweg is a diving location teeming with life. The water can be reached via a jetty.
With over 50 dive sites and a plethora of aid and professional divers available, the procedure for beginners is made a little easier. There are sufficient parking spaces, changing rooms and toilets available at this location. This place is rich in flora and animals, with excellent visibility, making scuba diving even more fascinating. The old concrete slabs form good biotopes where you can spot eels, pouting, and anemones.
