Swedish bank Handelsbanken was established in 1871 and is officially known as Svenska Handelsbanken AB. The bank's main office is in Stockholm, Sweden. Handelsbanken has a long history of being among Sweden's most influential financial organizations. The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce founded Handelsbanken as a bank for the local business community. To increase its operations in central Sweden, Handelsbanken amalgamated with Sodermanlands Enskilda Bank in 1970.
