Hans Wagner, a third-generation shoemaker, mastered the rare and difficult craft of double stitching in 1919. The brand remained in the family until 2004, when one of Hans his descendants, Sepp Wagner, decided to sell it to Fenix Outdoor, which also owns Fjallraven, Primus, and Brunton.

Hans' innovative double stitching technique (which few other shoemakers have mastered to this day) is still employed, and each shoe is almost entirely handmade in Europe.
