Haunted Mansion

All subsequent haunted homes have fallen short of The Haunted Mansion's benchmark since it is an outstanding masterpiece. It's like a Tim Burton movie come to life, terrifying as a child and joyful as an adult (but, you know, one of the good ones.) And the yearly Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, which runs from September until January, makes the Burton parallel even more accurate.

Everything about the original ride is perfect from a design standpoint. The antebellum Southern estate stands out in contrast to its surroundings, drawing your attention right away. The cast member's pre-ride introduction gives a hint as to the tone of the ride, which is fully established during the Ghost Host's legendary monologue during the ride's "stretching room" part.

The Ommnimover "Doom Buggies" trip through a Gothic nightmare awaits you as you leave that area and go on them. If you only visit Disneyland once in your life, make sure it's between February and August so you may experience the authentic Haunted Mansion because, as entertaining as the Nightmare version is, it just cannot compare to the original.
