Hotwire, which is part of the Expedia Group, is ideal for daring travelers who don't mind booking blind in exchange for incredible prices on last-minute bookings. Here's how it works: hotels sell their unsold rooms to Hotwire at rock-bottom costs, allowing you to buy them for a fraction of the regular price. What's the catch? You won't know the name of the property until after you've made a reservation. However, essential details such as the star rating, guest rating, and general location are provided in advance, and some advertisements provide you with a list of three alternative hotels, one of which will be yours.

Hotwire does have conventional listings that include the hotel name, however, the pricing for these hotels is often a few dollars higher than booking straight or through one of the larger OTAs. You can also book car rentals and flights through a third-party comparison search that includes Expedia Group subsidiaries. Vacation packages are also available, allowing you to combine two or more options (e.g., flights, hotel, and/or car) for higher total savings.
