David was among a few who helped establish Western Reserve College and Preparatory School in the community, though the school eventually relocated to Cleveland.

Locals are familiar with the name Ellsworth, and it was James Ellsworth who helped rebuild Main Street and the clock tower after a fire ravaged the town in 1903. This town has a diverse collection of historic architecture centered on an enchanting downtown district. Downtown Hudson has shopping, dining, and other irresistible attractions. Greenery crisscrosses the town, and it is not uncommon to see families attending special events on these soft patches of grass.
