International School of Bucharest
The International School of Bucharest (ISB) is a private international school that began in 1996. It provides a British-style education to children aged 2.5 to 19 years old in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. More than 700 students from 40 different countries attend ISB. It's an IB World School offering the IBDP Programme and is fully accredited by CIS.
Children in the Early Years, Primary (Key Stages 1 and 2), and Secondary school (Key Stage 3) follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales. They also study from the Cambridge Primary and Secondary 1 English, Maths, and Science Curriculum. In the last two years, Year 12 and Year 13, students prepare for the International Baccalaureate. In Years 10 and 11, they follow the Cambridge IGCSE.
ISB has been a 'Cambridge International Examinations center since 2001 and was accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in August 2012. It's been a member of COBIS since October 2013.
ISB aims to ensure that children who may not afford a private international school but excel in their studies and behave correctly get a chance for an excellent education in Bucharest. The ISB Scholarship Programme provides full or partial scholarships to eligible students aged 14 to 16, starting in Years 10 and 12. The scholarship covers the IGCSE Programme (Year 10 and Year 11) and the IB Programme (International Baccalaureate Programme – Year 12 and Year 13).
