Islenski Barinn
Islenski Barinn, located in Reykjavik, is one of Iceland's best restaurants for a traditional Icelandic bar. Most importantly, this restaurant is extremely cozy and provides a welcome respite from the winter chill. You can try their reindeer meatballs and roasted leg of lamb once you arrive. Alternatively, if that does not appeal to you, try the slensk kjötsúpa, a delicious Icelandic meat soup.
The interior design incorporates elements of Icelandic culture from the early twentieth century, a pivotal period in Icelandic history, all of which are tied together to create a timeless, rather than outdated one. The menu adheres to the same philosophy, featuring Icelandic ingredients (try the whale or dried fish, for example) and techniques that have been updated for the modern diner. If you want to try something different, Islenski Barinn also serves the traditional hakarl dish. It is made up of dried fish and fermented sharks.
