Jasper White’s Summer Shack
The name says it all with this restaurant, it truly feels like a New England summer day even in the dead of winter inside Summer Shack. It offers food that the whole family will enjoy, including classic and distinctive seafood dishes for parents and straightforward, homemade meals for kids.
There are communal picnic tables, cotton candy-blue leather booths, and a lively raw bar with clams, crab claws, oysters, and jumbo shrimp inside. There, seafood is served as the main course and comes with pleasant surprises like fried buffalo shrimp, shrimp lobster wontons, Portuguese mussels, and a crabmeat club sandwich. The pan-roasted lobster with bourbon, chervil, and chives at Jasper White is a must-order specialty dish.
Other specialties include whole roasted local flounder with brown butter, a spiced-up fisherman's stew and fiery-hot jerked fish. Sunday nights at Summer Shack in Cambridge were made for kids. In addition to the usual bucket of crayons and craft paper to draw on, there’s a sundae bar and balloon animals. Summer Shack is unquestionably one of the best family restaurants in Boston.
