Jelitkowo Beach
A nice Gdansk Poland beach with warm sunlight, peaceful natural scene, and nice cafe and bars makes it a complete place to enjoy vacations. This traditional seaside resort sits on the southern shores of the Baltic Sea and overlooks Gdansk Bay. Jelitkowo Beach has been a popular Gdansk retreat since its humble beginnings as a fishing hamlet in the late 1800s. Today, it continues to attract visitors with its golden sand, safe waters and beachfront restaurants.
The beach buzzes with life during the summer months and is a great alternative to Gdansk’s Old Town attractions. Spend a day sunbathing and cooling off in the inviting sea water. Lifeguards patrol the beach in peak season, making it a safe area for children. Play beach volleyball or try water sports such as windsurfing.
When you’re hungry, select from the variety of cafe, restaurants and food stands right on the beach. Purchase drinks, ice creams and snacks or dine on fresh seafood dishes.
Come in winter to discover a nearly empty beach and the opportunity to appreciate the scenery almost unaccompanied. Snowfall is common in winter and turns the beach into a fairytale-like landscape.
Whenever you visit Jelitkowo Beach you can enjoy relaxed walks to nearby villages. Choose between walking along the beach itself or a tree-lined pedestrian and cycle route. A 40-minute walk to the north is Sopot Pier. Boats depart from here for the Hel Peninsula. About a 30-minute stroll south will bring you to Brzezno Pier, which offers views back toward Gdansk’s city center.
