Kaokoland
Kaokoland is like Damarland on steroids, on a goal to become the least explored portion of one of the least populous nations on Earth, due to its distant location, difficult access, and impossibly tough competition ahead of it. Kaokoland is unique. This is where we Namibians "get away from it all," albeit I'm not sure what we're going away from.
In Kaokoland, there are massive, nearly insurmountable mountain ranges, all of Damaraland's desert-adapted animals to the south, and miles upon miles of desolate, breathtaking magnificence The interesting Himba people live in Kaokoland, off the land and in connection with nature.
Kaokoland is likely to be on everyone's second-visit bucket list, since it is best suited to adventurous self-drive 4x4 camping trips with more than one car. After skimming the surface of this historic and lovely country, you'll want to return for a second visit. Kaokoland is also home to the intriguing mountain elephant, which has evolved to live in a dry environment.
