Kariwak Reef
Kariwak Reef is the first place among the best dive sites in Trinidad And Tobago. If you’re new to scuba diving, then this is the perfect dive site for you. The reef is a closed reef and is close to Store Bay Beach. The spot can be dived either from the beach at Store Bay or from a boat. This site is usually flat with little to no current. The beginning of the dive takes place on a sandy bottom at around 6m, where you’re met with a stunning reef, which is home to Angel Fish, Scorpion Fish, Southern Stingrays, Electric Rays, and many more species of reef fish. Hawksbill turtles are also frequently seen. The average depth is 11 m/36.1 ft and the maximum depth is 14 m/45.9 ft. In addition, visibility is good, due to the absence of currents and varies from 10 m/32.8 ft to 30 m/98.4 ft. Make sure you keep your eyes open for Trumpet Fish that tend to try and imitate the coral.
Kariwak Reef is also a great location for night diving, as it caters to a spectacular variety of nocturnal marine life. Finally, it is advisable not to walk on the reefs or touch the coral formations. Have a small note be careful of boat traffic.
