Katherine Heigl
The Suits star and her husband, musician Josh Kelley famously adopted a child, they adopted their daughter Nancy Leigh Mi-Eun Kelley, from South Korea (the birth place of Heigl's adoptive sister) in 2009. She told Scholastic magazine, "I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom." Three years later, they adopted their daughter, Adalaide Marie Hope, domestically. After adopting two daughters, the actress gave birth to a son, Joshua Jr., last year.
Baby Naleigh entered the Katherine couple's life quite unexpectedly and quickly turned their world completely upside down. That's not to say Josh and Katherine aren't mentally prepared to be parents. Originally, she was very close to her adopted sister. That's why, despite knowing that the international adoption procedure is complicated and confusing, the couple still decided to adopt a Korean orphan girl.
Everything happened so quickly that it overwhelmed Katherine. The first day she hugged Naleigh, the world around her suddenly seemed to be covered with a mist and she could no longer see anything but the docile little body lying in her arms. She looked at her with large, sad eyes. She must be very tired after a long flight from Korea to the US. And she must be scared because she has to be away from the familiar faces who have taken care of her for the past few months. At that moment, Katherine just wanted to protect her with her life, give her warmth, comfort, satiety and love. The generous loving nature of a mother has made Katherine Heigl the happiest mother.
