KGC Cheong Kwan Jang
Korea Ginseng Corporation (KGC) was founded in 1999 to carry on the Korean ginseng heritage and customs that date back over 120 years. It began as Samjungkwa under the Gungnaebu of the Korean Empire in 1899. Since then, the Cheong Kwan Jang brand, which is now part of the Korean Red Ginseng Corp, has grown steadily, establishing itself as the world's leading red ginseng company.
Like other herbs, ginseng also has a lifespan. However, not all ginseng plants can live for six years. The ginseng plant will progressively wilt and die after a period of development. When ginseng is planted until the fourth year using manual farming methods, roughly 20% of the plants will die. By the fifth year, 25% more people will have died. By the sixth year prior to harvest, just 25% more can be gathered. Ginseng has a survival rate of approximately 45 percent after six years. As a result, many companies only grow ginseng for 3-4 years before harvesting it. Unlike them, KGC guarantees that all of its products are made from 6-year-old ginseng, which is subjected to a seven-step inspection and selection process.
KGC has been privileged to acquire many major awards for its high-quality ginseng, including World's Favorite Ginseng Brand, winner of the Grand Prize in the Health Food category at the Korea First Brand Awards (2002), World's Class Product of Korea (2007, 2008, 2009),... Cheong Kwan Jang's ginseng has also been chosen as a present from the Korean government to national guests such as Queen Elizabeth II of England, Pope Francis of France, and Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping.
